Nautical Whales Sculpture - Art Finish
Marble Base

SPI Gallery, Humpback Whales in brass, set on polished round marble base. Approximately 34"h x 12.5"w x 11.5"d. Two whales with baby humpback balancing on momma's nose as they ride an ocean wave.

Humpback whales sculpture is meticulously hand finished, using the hot patina technique. SPI artists heat the brass surfaces with blow torches and apply proprietary formulations of chemicals that react to the metal using various techniques, one layer at a time. After several coats of hand waxing, the result is a vibrant, deep, layered finish with complex subtleties that no other finishing method can achieve.

"Art Finish" is the original SPI Gallery Finish used for decades. The traditional museum look appears as thoughthe sealife are swimming below the surfaceof the ocean, Reflections and contrasts appear and are accented by small brass highlights.
