Artist's Statement & Biography
"Glassblowing allows me to explore both painterly concerns and my fascination with surface decoration, while continuing to challenge the other physical and creative skills required to take the vessel shape in ever new directions." It is a rare talent to conceive and create art that is recognized around the world as among the very best. Such is the talent of Robert Held. His work can be found in many distinguished collections - the Roland Michener, the Indusman and even the goblets in "The Perfect Setting" currently gracing the table of the Governor General of Canada. Robert Held holds an impressive position as one of the fathers of North America's Art Glass Movement, and his individual creations are simply magnificent.
