David Leight
Designer of Fine Jewelry
Specializing In Pendants & Earrings
David officially began his glass art career after graduating with a BA in Psychology and a minor in studio arts from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 2004. He attended Pilchuck glass school, founded by Dale
Chihuly, for the first time in 1999 and studied under Mark Taylor. From this experience, David developed a unique style of cutting, chipping, sculpting and polishing plate glass/crystal. This crystalline form evolved from his observations of crystal and ice, which exemplify the characteristics he wished to convey.
In 2004, David constructed the Google logo, for co-founder Sergey Brin, out of his crystalline style. His sculptural works are shown in galleries throughout the west coast and southwest.
From his sculptural experience David now focuses his unique signature techniques into the creation of his Star-Leight Crystal Jewelry line. Each piece is handcrafted with vaporized metal crystal inside his unique carved crystal-glass. All pieces are custom shaped to enhance the light and color; bringing style, simple elegance and an “Eye-Catching” quality to all who wear them. A piece constantly changes color depending on the amount of light, movement, or outfit worn.
Shows in the last few months have included: Adam’s Ave Roots Fest,Carlsbad Street Fair, SDSU Craft Fair, Escondido and many others. Along with market exposure, David’s work is seen in gift shops and galleries.
