* Designer Naomi Johnson * Artists Statement and Biography
Starting out as a small child, I have had a fascination with American Indian Artwork. My interests then expanded into other cultures, spanning both the globe and time periods, African and Middle Eastern tribal work, the arts of Asia and India, Russian jewelry and Faberge, the Bau Haus, European and American Art Deco, Art Nouveau and the Victorian Era have all been a profound influence.
After attending Parsons School of Design in New York. I spend several years in the advertising business.
Eventually, the draw of my first love weaving and beadwork led me to develop my own off-loom weaving process based on Russian beadwork and European lace making.
New and vintage glass and crystal bone clay and sterling silver become part of my pallet. I feel the result is a modern day homage to a bygone era and many different cultures. I have been creating "one of a kind creations" for over five years and every piece is made in our studios in the USA. we take great pride in our workmanship.
