Artist Statement
"Jewelry is a reflection of any artists’ inner vision and it continuously interacts with its wearer. It expresses and supports ones sense of personal beauty and reflects ones inner strengths.
As an artist I strive to express as much beauty and individuality in each piece as possible, exploring the limits of these wonderful materials and ancient techniques.
The collections are inspired by the worlds wondrous and diverse cultures ~ new and old alike. To this we add our own strength: a modern and more sophisticated enameling technique. The result is before you."
Falcher
Artist BackgroundFalcher Fusager grew up in Denmark where he as a teenager spend much of his free time painting, using traditional oil glazing techniques (applying multiple layers of transparent oil paints on top of each other). It was his fondness of the extraordinary light and color of this oil painting that later inspired him to experiment with transparent enamels and led him to develop his highly refined multi-layered enameling technique.
In 1974, after four years of employment at W.A. Bates (then, Denmark's largest advertisement agency), Falcher took the leap and moved to the USA. Here, while working as a street artist in San Francisco, he formed his first professional partnership with two local artists; Don Viehman and Rollie Pilzer. They quickly established themselves at the local arts and crafts shows as "The Cloisonné Collection". In the early '80-ies, Falcher's partners decided to leave the profession and pursue other careers. Falcher continued on his own and soon gained further recognition in the field as he juried into the nations top arts and craft shows.
In 1985, he expanded his business to include wholesale and formed the existing company, "MAGICK". Success followed quickly and in 1988, he hired his first assistant, Susan Demski, who later became business partner. Susan helped create beautiful designs until she retired in 2002.
Magick's award winning creations are regularly featured in the worlds leading Arts and jewelry magazines and their jewelry is sold in some of the most prestigious jewelry stores and art galleries across the nation. Exhibits include the Renwick gallery of the Smithsonian Institute and Takashimaya, Tokyo, Japan.
Falcher Fusager carries on his vision with the help of a wonderful crew:
Jael Fusager - Falcher's son, employed since the age of 15, is now a master in his field; the highly meticulous and demanding wire bending technique.
Nadia Fusager - Falcher's daughter, joined Magick in 1998, now manages the small studio.

What is enamel? Enamel is glass that has been ground into a consistency similar to fine sand. Oxides are added to create permanent colors.
What is cloisonné? Cloisonné is an enameling technique using thin, flat wires to form a design. MAGICK cloisonné uses 24k gold wires, individually cut and meticulously bent with tweezers. The wires are fused to a fine silver disk that is engraved to reflect light. Using magnifiers, each “cell” (cloison in French) created by those wires is filled with different colors of enamel to create a shaded effect. The color is thus built up in many thin layers - each layer being fired in a 1450° F kiln until it reaches its melting point and fuses to the previous layer. The resulting gem is cut, polished and set in gold.
These repeated firings produce the spectacular brilliance of color for which MAGICK is known.
