Artist's Statement "When I design and assemble
a glass sculpture, I start with one form and work outward from that
point until a rhythm within a piece begins to develop. My use of simple
yet elegant sculptural elements accentuates the optical dimensional
quality of the piece. I am interested in the relationship different
qualities give to each other when combined-light, optics, transparency,
color and form, all work to create multiple illusions of spatial dimensions and shifting color. Beveled angles cut into the shape add luminescence and depth and each facet is highly polished to reflect the brilliance and transparency inherent in the glass itself. In the final work,
sculptural elements and qualities of light and color reflect upon each other, resulting in a highly complex sculptural effect."
