Since its inception in 1981 Teign Valley Glass Studios has been producing stylish yet functional, highly collectable glassware.
Our skilled team of glassmakers under the leadership of award winning designer Ian Hankey MA (Royal College of Art) use an eclectic mix of traditional and modern techniques to produce highly individual, intricate designs that cannot be made by mass manufacturers.
We are constantly developing new ideas and techniques and using new materials together with traditional glassmaking skills that have been handed down from one craftsman to another over many years to bring our ideas into the forefront of glass design.
We are making our mark on the 21st century and we believe that our designs demonstrate this.
Enjoy the heady mix of radical ideas and techniques and the clever fusion of colours.

"In music, it is the silences and spaces that are left between the notes that stimulate emotion. I am intrigued and inspired by the notion of leaving similar space around an obvious display of practical skill in order to produce a harmonious design."
Ian Hankey-MA (Royal College of Art) 2004

| GlassMaster Don Maclennan - hothead glass
|
BIOGRAPHY
Don MacLennan was raised on the west coast of Canada. After completing his studies at the University of British Columbia, he moved to eastern Canada and now resides in Toronto, Ontario. After a career in restaurant management, he returned to his studies, first in environmental design and eventually in glass at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario. He has been an artist in residence at the Living Arts Center in Mississauga, Ontario since his graduation in 1997.
"I am very much driven by color and form in my work. I feel that my upbringing in the natural beauty of British Columbia weaves its way into my work, although it is not something that I do consciously. I am often amazed by how my work evolves to reflect the environment of my youth." The fact that Don focuses on Environmental Design during his schooling in Ontario, prior to his studies in glass, is not surprising. His works are a blend of natural colours in simple understated forms-functionally elegant. His work exhibits wind, water and wave motifs, reflecting Don's affinity for the natural environment as well as his upbringing in coastal British Columbia.

| GlassMaster Robert Held
|
| "Glassblowing allows me to explore both painterly concerns and my fascination with surface decoration, while continuing to challenge the other physical and creative skills required to take the vessel shape in ever new directions.
It is a rare talent to conceive and create art that is recognized around the world as among the very best. Such is the talent of Robert Held. His work can be found in many distinguished collections - the Roland Michener, the Indusman and even the goblets in "The Perfect Setting" currently gracing the table of the Governor General of Canada. Robert Held holds an impressive position as one of the fathers of North America's Art Glass Movement, and his individual creations are simply magnificent.
