GlassMaster John Lotton

John Lotton was born in Illinois on October 28th, 1964. At a young age, John mostly finished and polished his father's work, but it was at the end of each work day that John's glass blowing apprenticeship began. He learned to create small paperweights and pendants and they sold quickly in his father's store. Over the last twenty-one years John Lotton has spent a great deal of time perfecting his glass blowing techniques always driven to challenge himself and create even more magnificant pieces than the time before. Each creation is hand-blown by John himself, making each a unique creation in color and form. John uses only the finest quality glass materials, the purest sand and chemical colorants; then carefully hand-mixes these elements to create the highest quality work possible. In the forming stages, John is working with glass that is heated to 2000 degrees, as each layer of design motif and color is created. John arrives at his desired forms by challenging the very laws of nature including gravity and centrifugal force. His unparalleled hand-blowing skill and the shaping tools he makes himself are all vital in this process. After this formative period, the glass is ready for polishing. In the final step, John signs and dates each piece of glass. John Lotton's work can be seen in fine galleries and private collections across North America, Europe and Asia.
John has retired from glass making. This is the last piece we have available for sale. It is highly collectable and desirable.
