GlassMaster Marti Johnson - that Glass Girl

Nestled in the Hill Country of Texas, Marti Johnson with her canine companions Linus and Amber Blows glass high atop the Pedernales River. Marti graduated from the Center for Creative Studies in Michigan. On June 1,1995 That Glass Girl was started by her in Spicewood Texas. Marti enjoys the process of blowing glass. It was the medium itself that initially attracted her. Molten glass is a unique substance in the sense that it cannot be touched and the artist must work with the glass; it is a collaboration. She enjoys the beat and the physical challenge. Her imagery comes from what she loves, travel and water, especially the ocean and what's in it. Marti is is an avid scuba diver and enjoys being under the water with other living creatures. She wants her pieces to show movement; as if they can walk or change shape on their own. The bright colors, shapes and appendages on many pieces add to her desire to make them seem alive. Marti is always striving to make her work both funtional and creative.
Marti has taken a long maternity leave and we hope to have additional works from her studio in the near future.
